Price and Specs
Price: 4.99$
Weight: 4.5 grams
A plastic body with microfiber cloth joining each tail section of the lure also comes with one bottom 3-way hook. This one is made to mimic small crappies and is really good for targeting bass.
Our Spot For Today
Today we're at the local river near the Sammamish bike trail again. The water current is slow and the sun glare is insanely bright, so I can't see much in the middle of the river.
Technique of the day
Spoiler alert, I'm very bad at handling artificial lures in general. Multi-jointed lures are known by their smooth S-curve action, which is very versatile and can mimic a bunch of fish movement. That also means this type of lure required some skills from the user. I tried 3 methods here...
Straight Retrieve: Simply reel it in at a steady pace.
Stop-and-Go: Briefly pausing the retrieve allows the lure to glide like a dying minnow.
Shake and Retrieve: Shake the tip of the rod a bit while retrieving to give the lure more action like a panicked minnow.
My thoughts
Immediately, I can feel that the weight wasn't as described. The lure was way lighter than it promised. The lure tilts sideways when dropped into the water, which means there's something wrong with its weight distribution.
Barely Any Action
Reeling the lure in straightly barely creates any action. The lure just glides through the water, the tail isn't flapping enough, nor is the body section moving.
Bad Weight Distribution
As mentioned earlier, the weight distribution doesn't seem right. When pausing the lure midway, instead of the lure head sinking first, the whole lure just tilts sideways and sinks instead.
At Least Something Is Working
The only method I found that is working is to shake and retrieve. It's not the best, but at least the action is passable. The multi-joint will move rapidly when you shake, creating vibration and sounds that attract hunter fish.
Rating
3.5/10
Pros
Cheap for a multi-joint lure.
An interesting lure in a way that I'm curious if it'll catch any fish. Maybe someone who has better rod-handling control could pull it off.
Cons
The product weight isn't as described on the store page.
Extremely difficult to control (at least for me).
Bad weight distribution kills the action.
There are definitely better multi-jointed lures you can buy with a similar price.
